Rwanda and FC Bayern Munich Sign three(3)-Year Partnership 

Kigali, Rwanda and German football powerhouse FC Bayern Munich have entered a new chapter in their relationship, by signing a better fresh three-year agreement that will run up to 2028.

Unlike previous agreements, which was largely based on commercial sponsorship, this new partnership will focus priority on youth football development and nurturing local talent with creating long-term benefits for the sport in Rwanda.

Expanding the FC Bayern Academy in Kigali

The FC Bayern Academy in Kigali, launched during the earlier phase of the partnership, will now play a central role in the agreement.

  • More training opportunities: Young Rwandan players will benefit from advanced coaching programs designed by FC Bayern’s professional trainers.
  • Skills engagement to Rwandans : The academy will also focus on personal discipline, teamwork, and leadership  skills that extend beyond the pitch.

In relation  With Rwanda’s Vision

This partnership is part of Rwanda’s broader vision and mission  to position itself as a global hub for sports, tourism, and investment. By strengthening grassroots football, Rwanda aims to:

  • Develop local talent that can compete internationally.
  • Attract visitors and investors to Kigali and other regions including national park like Akagera .
  • Promote the country as a destination for sports tourism.

Statements from the Parties

Officials from both Rwanda’s sports authorities and FC Bayern Munich expressed optimism about the agreement. They highlighted the mutual benefits of focusing on youth, noting that the investment in grassroots programs will leave a lasting legacy for future generations.

Looking Ahead

As the program develops, the partnership is expected to:

  • Offer more coaching exchanges between Germany and Rwanda.
  • Host youth tournaments that showcase local and regional talent.
  • Create opportunities for exceptional players to train in Europe.

With the agreement set through 2028, Rwanda’s young athletes have a unique chance to grow within a world|class football framework  and the country continues to make its mark as a forward-thinking destination in the global sports arena.
